The '99 Miata is my first true sports car as well as my first convertible. I first read about the new '99s in an auto section of the Roanoke Times in May of 1998. The more I read, the more convinced I became that this would be a fun car to own and drive.

My wife saw an ad in the paper the same evening that the local Mazda dealer had a few of these cars on their lot. I thought about the article I read all night long and couldn't resist the temptation to visit the dealer first thing the next morning. By the time we arrived (around 6:30 A.M.), there was only one Miata left. We called the dealer later that morning and had them place a "hold" on it until we could get back that evening.

The rest is history. About one year later, the local Blue Ridge Miata Club was formed. We were ecstatic to meet up with fellow Miata owners in the Roanoke Valley and its surrounding regions. There can be little doubt that this car, albeit small in size, is big on fun!!! We look forward to sharing this fun with fellow BRMC members in the years ahead.
